2021 Guidelines for Return to Worship

2021 Guidelines for Return to Worship

The Genesis Reopening Task Force has prepared the following guidelines for our return to worship. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Wellness – Stay home when you are sick. Please do not attend worship if you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, have recently tested positive for COVID-19 or have been in contact with someone who has recently tested positive or experienced symptoms. Wash your hands, utilize hand sanitizer, cover coughs and sneezes, and avoid touching your face. For best practices, please visit CDC.gov.

Vaccination –  Vaccination is not required to attend worship. The vaccine has been demonstrated to be safe and effective, and it’s free. We encourage each member to consider getting vaccinated to protect yourself and help stop the spread.

Masks – We strongly encourage everyone (vaccinated or not) to wear a mask when gathering indoors at Genesis.

Construction – Most of Genesis is under construction right now. For your safety we ask that you not wander outside of the worship room upstairs and the hallway downstairs.

Parking  – Many parking spaces are unavailable due to construction. Please be careful as you find a parking place. Parking is available to the left as you enter the parking lot in both the upper and lower lots. Parking is also available on the side of the church. Handicap parking is in the rear of the church.

Handicap access – Handicap access is available through the elevator at the rear of the church. A greeter will meet you at the door and make sure you get to the worship room safely.

Entry – There is no entry through the front of the church. The main entry point is on the side by the playground. Greeters will welcome you there and signs will guide you through the hallway to the stairs leading to the worship room.

Exit – The exit is through the door to the stairwell and then down the hall through the lower level to the exterior door by the playground. Volunteers will accompany to the elevator individuals who are unable to take the stairs.  In the event of an emergency ushers and staff will guide people to the available emergency exits which may change from week to week due to construction.

Seating – The capacity of the worship room has been somewhat reduced with more space between rows. There is no assigned seating or required spacing.

Facemasks – We are mask friendly. Masks are not required but recommended for the unvaccinated and welcomed for those who feel more comfortable with masks. Masks will be available for those who need one.

Social distancing – No formal social distancing is required but we request that you respect others’ space and forego handshakes and hugs.

Hand Sanitization  – Hand sanitizer dispensers will be available in the worship room.

Restrooms – Restrooms are available downstairs in the hallway leading to the worship room stairs. A single occupancy restroom is available in the church office. Restrooms are equipped with motion-sensor activated soap dispensers and faucets.

Offering – Baskets will be available where you can place your offering.

Upgraded worship room – The worship room has been upgraded with new carpet, paint, light fixtures, speakers, a/v enhancements, woodwork, cleaned chairs, and air flow improvements.

Worship material – Single use bulletins will be available on a table in the worship room until the a/v equipment is fully available.

Worship time – Worship will start at 9 a.m. each Sunday (rain or shine!). For those not attending in person the YouTube version will continue to be available also at 9 a.m.

Sunday school – Due to construction there is no space available for Sunday school classes to meet. Sunday school classes will continue to meet online for now.
