Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6.
The latest news about the coronavirus is always in front of us. News programs, social media, youtube, etc. It is hard to turn them off. Constantly seeing the news makes me anxious. It makes me think about what might happen, but has not. It makes me focus on the negative. I go back to this verse in Philippians often to remind myself that God is in control, and I do not need to be anxious. “Do not be anxious about ANYTHING! ….Present your requests to God.”
I try and focus on the good. The earth is becoming cleaner, we are eating healthier home-made meals, there is more (social distant) fellowship with the neighbors, and we are able to get out and walk on the greenway.
I am especially thankful for more time to listen. The world is so much quieter. I sit on my porch and listen to the silence. It is broken only by the beautiful sounds of nature. It is easier now to sit and listen to the voice of God speak within me. It seems that I hear him more clearly now that the noise of the world is dampened.
Awesome and wonderful God, Walk with each of us through this pandemic, and remind us to bring our anxieties to you. Thank you for being in control. Help us to listen for your voice during this rare time of quiet. In Christ’s name, Amen
