Breakthrough Prayer for Pentecost

Breakthrough Prayer for Pentecost

Genesis Prayer ministry hopes that you enjoyed the Breakthrough Prayer that was introduced during Lent: “God, help me to see myself as you see me. Create in me a pure heart. Amen.”

A breakthrough prayer is a short prayer that the entire congregation prays together in their daily prayer life, individually and in small groups, classes, worship and anytime you pray.

A breakthrough prayer is an additive component of prayer. It adds a request in every prayer occasion for God to break through with new possibilities, hopes and dreams without limits – both in the life of our church and in our own lives… and that we surrender ourselves to what God may unfold. Breakthrough prayers … are loaded with spiritual dynamite, asking God to breakthrough in a particular aspect. – Sue Nilson Kibbey, Ultimate Reliance

The prayer ministry plans to introduce a new breakthrough prayer every other month. We are excited to see how God works through the congregation at Genesis UMC!

In May, we celebrate Pentecost. Acts 2 tells us that on the Day of Pentecost, a powerful wind blew and tongues of fire rested on Jesus’ disciple’s heads.  They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages to tell people from other nations about Jesus Christ.

Let us ask the Holy Spirit to work through each of us to help us tell the story of Jesus Christ.  Our Pentecost Breakthrough Prayer is:

Come Holy Spirit! Help us tell people about God in new places and new ways. Amen

Incorporate this prayer every time you pray. May it give you the strength and words to spread the Word of God.

Join in praying the breakthrough prayer for Pentecost. …

Come Holy Spirit! Help us tell people about God in new places and new ways. Amen
