Local Missions

Local Missions

Genesis UMC partners with several Cary based organizations to serve our local community.

Kingswood Elementary School (Congregations for Children)

Kingswood Elementary School

Congregations for Children (C4C) is a United Methodist Church partnership between a local congregation and a community school. Genesis is partnered with Kingswood Elementary School, a downtown Cary Montessori Stem school. Every year the staff assesses needs that Genesis can help fulfill. We provide several staff treats during the year including a year end luncheon. Every month staff birthdays are recognized with goodie bags and the teacher’s lounge is replenished with treats. We also have Genesis families who spend a year sponsoring a classroom teacher by sending notes and surprises each month through the Adopt a Teacher program.

Hats for Duke

A hat cutting event

Genesis’ Hats for Duke mission cuts and sews hats for Duke and port pillows for Rex hospitals for their patients undergoing Chemotherapy. Volunteers meet at Genesis several times a year to cut out pattern pieces. Sewing angels pick up the cut pieces and sew the items at home. Donations of stretch fabric, Velcro and stuffing are always needed.
