Prayer Focus: Impact of Covid-19 on Daily Lives and Relationships

Join us in prayer for the impact Covid-19 has on our daily lives and relationships.

Gracious and loving God,

We give thanks to you, for you are good.  We are grateful for every breath we take in this beautiful world you created.   Thank you for the gift of each day to begin anew.

Lord, we confess that we struggle with day to day living in the pandemic.   We talk with friends and family via technology instead of face to face.   We cannot be near our loved ones who are lonely or in the hospital.   And we ourselves are lonely too and wrestle with isolation.  Help us to comfort each other, even as we keep apart.   Give us courage to reach out to those in pain.   Remind us that there is nothing in all creation, including coronavirus, that can separate us from your love.

  • Breathe upon us, Holy Spirit, filling every fiber of our being with Your Presence.

Lord, “Back to School” has been a difficult experience for us.  We confess that we are afraid for students, parents, teachers, and staff.   We are overwhelmed with remote working and remote learning.   Forgive us, Lord, for lack of trust in You to guide us through day by day.  Strengthen our faith through the power of your word.

  • Breathe upon us, Holy Spirit, replacing our fear with faith in the Everlasting God.

Lord, masked living and endless hand washing is weird and unsettling for us.  “Normal” interactions outside our homes are limited.   We confess our resentment and frustration to you and ask forgiveness for focusing on ourselves instead of others.   Guide us in our new realities and give us grace for each other, especially those in our own household.     Help us to reach out and connect to others in our congregation and community with kindness and an encouraging word.

  • Breathe upon us, Holy Spirit, connecting us to each other and showing us what we can do to uplift others.

Lord, you are our Provider.   Many people feel financial strain and uncertainty as jobs and businesses are impacted during this crisis.    Lead them to others who can enable them to find new work.   Remind those of us in financial security to share with those in need.  Give us compassion for the whole human family that is in turmoil and burdened with illness and anxiety.

  • Breathe upon us, Holy Spirit, growing our network of support for people in our church and community.

God, you are our refuge and strength.   We know that everything is under your sovereign control.     Thank you for equipping us to follow in the footsteps of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to do good for others and to run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Your name, Lord, endures forever; your renown endures through all generations.

In Jesus Christ’s name we pray, amen.
